Khmer women future. The author elaborates on his conception of the role of women in society and asserts his will to make gender equality a reality. He points to the fact that in any community where women are ill treated, human rights in general are far from being respected for both women and men. Conversely, when women rights start to be duly respected, the whole community will see an improvement in the general human rights situation. For the good of Cambodian women and the good of our nation, he encourages women to take up social and political responsibilities and launches an appeal for the empowerment of women, especially in the framework of the upcoming communal and national elections. Regarding women social status, he considers that financial independence is the basis of human dignity. Hence, the importance of education and professional training. Among a series of affirmative actions, he advocates a system of scholarships for young girls from poor rural families to prevent them from dropping out of school and  to encourage them to pursue higher education.
