We must save our nation. The author exposes the main dangers facing
Cambodia: deforestation, soil erosion and successive ecological disasters, mafia State, institutionalized crime and systemic corruption, dire poverty and abject living conditions for the ordinary people, malnutrition, HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Poverty associated with corruption and bad governance from 1979 to 2001 is responsible for more deaths than brutal executions under Pol Pot.  For most Cambodians life expectancy is presently as low as 50 years, while mortality rates, especially infant mortality, are among the highest in the world. For more than twenty years, at least 200,000 people have prematurely died each year in our country. We must stop this silent massacre.
